Computers Gone Wild!!
What a wild morning it's been on the TSX. Two stocks came to my attention in the early hours of trading.
LEX - Lexam, and GIX - Geologix Explorations
I have no idea how many others are out there that was hit with the same anomally.
For Lexam, the selling brokerage was Interactive brokers. Just prior to the drop down to .43, the last trade was .53, then .51.
A total of 20 trades went through from 9:53:59 to 9:54:02 (in 3 seconds)
Seller, Interactive broker, Buyer GOLDMAN
107,400 shares, with a large block of 77,500 sold by interactive, and bought by anonymous.
The next trade at 9:54:14 was at .73 cents
Goldman continued buying up to .73 and then switched to the sell side.
GIX - Geologix was similar
Starting at 9:53:26 Interactive brokers went on the sell side with the following trades
.49, .49, .485, .48, .45, .42, .405, .40, .39
the next trade was at .57
It appears that Interactive Brokers had some sort of computer glitch.

How many Zeros in a Billion???
I received this by e-mail, and couldn't resist posting it here, but haven't had a chance to verify the numbers. Looks and sounds real enough tho!
☺
How many zeros in a billion???
This is too true to be funny...
The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.
A.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C
A billion hours ago our ancestors wereliving in the Stone Age.
D.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E.
A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.
While this thought is still fresh in our brain...
let's take a look at New Orleans ....
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.
Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS to rebuild New Orleans .. Interesting number...
What does it mean?
A
Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, and child) you each get $516,528.
B
Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.
C.
Or... if you are a family of four...your family gets $2,066,012.
Imagine, now $700 billion bailing out banks in the US . That's enough to fund complete medical care for every man, woman and child currently alive in the US for 11 years!!
50 billion to bail out the auto industry???
Washington , D.C. & Ottawa ON.
HELLO!!!
Are all your calculators broken??
STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY???
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago...and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt...
We had the largest middle class in the world..
and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What happened?
Can you spell 'politicians!'
And I still have to press '1' for English.
I hope this goes around the US & CANADA at least 1 billion times
☺

San Gold
If you're not familiar with San Gold, you can read my previous posts, or visit the website. For some reason, this one has been an underperformer, even though it is my favourite gold stock. My nickname for SGR, is Rodney..aka: Rodney Dangerfield, never gets any respect! :) ☺
San Gold had news today of a bulk tonnage estimate, and started off in the green, only to close red. I've followed this story for a very long time, and will give you my take.
This company has issued too many shares, plain and simple. The story started off well, with lots of gold, low costs, and a friendly political jurisdiction. What SGR did was raise capital too many times for exploration, instead of ramping up production. At this point (and keep in mind it's only my take on things) they need to prove they can actually make money. How is that possible if they're still concentrating on exploration?? We all know there's gold there, but is it viable.
That being said, let me reiterate some items from their PR released today.
This was a bulk tonnage test for the 007 zone, which isn't the main Rice Lake Mine.
Over 305 meters (1,000 ft) of strike length has been developed so far at this elevation with three distinct zones identified having strike lengths of 76 meters (250 ft) to 92 meters (300 ft) each. 15,405 tons have been processed in the Rice Lake mill so far this year from the 007 zones giving a mill head grade of 11.3 g/tonne (0.33 oz/ton).
One troy ounce = 31.10 grams.
So according to this press release they did:
15,405 tons x 11.3 g/tonne = 174,076 grams / 31.1 = 5,597 ounces from this bulk sampling.
In my opinion, the problem with San Gold is a number of things.
1. too many shares issued
2. concentrating on drilling rather than operations
3. they need to prove this is a profitable mine
The purpose of a bulk tonnage sampling is to actually get an idea of the true grade, over a large area of tonnage. The Grade from the 007 is extremely high.
I still like this company, the management and the properties. What bothers me, is the constant erosion in the share price and value from dilution. It'll go one day...sure as heck the day I sell. ☻☻
Games are being played with this one.

San Gold News
San Gold Confirms High Grades with Bulk Sample of 007 Zone
BISSETT, MB, March 4 /CNW/ - George Pirie, CEO of San Gold Corporation (TSX:SGR) (OTCQX: SGRCF), is pleased to report on preliminary mine development and bulk sampling within the 007 and 007 East Zones from 250 meters (820 ft) below surface.
Mining of the 007 zones have contributed to a record month in terms of tonnage mined in February of 37,825 tons or 1,351 tons per day average, including a new daily mined record of 2,674 tons. Individual face grades have assayed up to 11.2 oz/ton (384 g/tonne) over a true width of 3.4 meters (11.0 ft) with visible gold being routinely observed throughout. Chip sample results are presented in the table below using vein only as well as full face widths in order to fully account for dilution. Chip sample face averages are also presented by zone using uncut assay values and a 103 g/tonne (3 oz/ton) cutting factor for all individual assays that lie over that threshold.

Oremex News
Oremex had some interesting news today, where they will spin-off their gold assets into a separate company, in order to become a focussed silver mining company. The spin-off will be called Oremex Gold, and Oremex Resources name will change to Oremex Silver.

Update
It's been a while since my last post, mainly because I haven't had much to say. Gold shot up with the political unrest in Libya and Egypt which is spreading turmoil throughout the entire middle east.
As I write this, gold is $1429 US$ ($1394 C$). The strength of the Canadian dollar has caused many of the smaller Canadian Mining companies to not participate in the latest runup in gold.
Winners today included BRD - Brigus Gold, CRJ - Claude Resources, ARZ - Aurizon, NGD - New Gold, EDR - Endeavour, IMG - Iamgold, and IPT - Impact Silver. I'm sure there were many others, but these are the ones I'm interested in and have been following.
I did have Brigus Gold and New Gold but sold out of those positions when gold showed weakness. I usually can identify a temporary top but have trouble with the rebuy after it corrects.
ORM - Oremex had news today that might be of interest, and I'll make a separate post on that.
In the meantime, I'm looking to rebuy New Gold, Brigus and add to AGE - Adventure Gold. This one has an exciting portfolio of properties in Timmins.
From their website:
Adventure Gold holds quality assets in Val d'Or, Timmins West as well as along the Casa-Berardi-Cameron and Detour Lake Gold Breaks. The Company is led by a focused and experienced management team and a technical team with exploration to production experience.
